MATERIAL-FOAMGLAS INSULATION-ANALYSIS OF

Abstract

The object of this investigation was to establish a material for use as thermal insulation in Boral boxes which will be used in high temperature radiation effect studies. The material must not become radioactive to a point where it will be a health hazard. Emission spectrography was used to determine qualitatively the main constituents of Foamglas and Refrasil. Three materials were screened for sodium; Foamglas could not be further considered because of high sodium content. Refrasil B-100 Batt was recommended for thermal insulation in high temperature radiation effects studies. (Author)
