CLOUD STRUCTURE AND DISTRIBUTIONS OVER THE TROPICAL PACIFIC. PART III

Abstract

Cloud developments and distributions photographed are analyzed and related to the 3-dimensional air flow and atmospheric structure on each flight leg. Several opportuniti s re presented to test the hypotheses regarding cloud patterning that were evolved in Part II. Due mainly to inadequate wind data, none of these opportunities proved ideal. Nevertheless, in compensation, a quite new type of cloud organization was discovered on this circuit. In addition, some further physical insight was provided on the formation of cumulus rows.
