PYRIDOXAL PHOSPHATE HYDRAZONE AS A MEASURE OF 1,1-DIMETHYLHYDRAZINE CONGENTRATION IN TISSUES

Abstract

A method is described for determining concentrations of 1,1-dimethylhydrazine (UDMH) in tissues. It is based on the spectral absorption of pyridoxal phosphate-UDMH hydrazone. By use of the described method, brain UDMH levels were determined in two groups of rats. Both groups received 120 mg./kg. UDMH; one received additionally 100 mg./kg. pyridoxine hydrochloride. There were no apparent differences in the two groups either in the level of accumulating the hydrazide or in the rate of clearing it. (Author)
