VARIABLES RELATED TO ACCURACY IN INTERPERSONAL PERCEPTION

Abstract

A study of the correlates of judging ability was completed, using as predictors a set of communications abilities tests (Taylor, et al 1958). The measures of judging ability involved 12 films selected from the larger pool of 33. A study of psychological chance on the judging instruments was completed. The basic procedure was to have a group of judges fill out the judging instruments knowing only the sex of the person to whom the instruments pertained. A computer program in the general case was developed for computation of all of Cronbach's (1955) component scores, and the Interpersonal Accuracy Correlation and Variance scores developed by Cline and Richards (1960). Data was obtained and preliminary analyses completed for pilot studies of component scores using the new computer program. Final writeup for publication of four individual studies reported in earlier technical reports was completed. These writeups have been accepted by journal editors and will appear in the near future.
