SPECTROGRAPHIC INVESTIGATION OF TEMPERATURES IN A PLASMA JET ARC TUNNEL

Abstract

Spectrographic equipment was assembled and is being used to study the plasma jet air stream. The ionization temperature in a free stream plasma jet, 3 in. from the nozzle, was measured with this equipment. Assuming a Boltzman distribution and using the ratio of the intensity of two copper lines, a temperature of 6200 K was calculated. (Author)
