TELEMETRY SOLID-STATE MICROWAVE TRANSMITTER T( )/AKT

Abstract

The feasibility of the solid-state approach toward the development of telemetry transmitters within the microwave region was established. Two solid-state transmitters, a single sideband suppressed carrier (SSSC) transmitter and a frequency modulation (FM) transmitter, which were constructed to illustrate the solid-state approach at high frequencies, are described. Two transmitters were developed during the development phases: (1) an SSSC transmitter with a minimum single sideband RF output power level of 25 milliwatts and an RF carrier of 0.6 watts at 2250 mc, and (2) an FM transmitter with a minimum RF output power level of 2.0 watts at 2250 mc. The techniques investigated during the development of these transmitters constitute a significant step toward operational ultrareliable transmitter equipment. (Author)
