A MATHEMATICAL MODEL FOR THE DISTRIBUTION OF LENGTHS OF CHROMOSOMAL DEFICIENCIES INVOLVING A SPECIFIC LOCUS

Abstract

A mathematical model of random two-hit reakage and deficiency s developed for the condtion that the chromosoml segment lost includes an arbitrary but specifc locus. Both a discrete band model and a continuous chromosome model are considered in presenting theoretical distributions for deficiency lengths, deficiency midpoints, and other relted characteristics. he problem of eimating the location of essential loci is discussed for the continuous model.
