EXPLOSIVE HOLE PIERCING

Abstract

A study of all known methods of explosive hole piercing showed that contact piercing by a shaped explosive charge and piercing with a high-explosive charge in a water tank are the only acceptable methods for piercing holes of various sizes and shapes in high-strength and heat-resistant materials. The contact piercing method is effective for piercing holes in flat sheet, end closures, and shells. (Author)
