ON A CHARACTERISTIC FUNCTION AND AN INVARIANT TRIPLE INTEGRAL OF SATELLITE MOTION

Abstract

A study is presented on the basis of ''Satellites and Riemannian Geometry'' (Knothe, Mathematics Umbraticola, May 17, 1962). The following deductions lead to explicit representations of the g's in the case of the ''bulge'' potential of the earth, to an explicit expression for the function psi, called the characteristic function of satellite motion, and to an expliit expression for a new invariant triple integrl which shows a similarity to Liouville's theorem in Ergodic heory.
