INSTALLATION AT FRANKFURT OF A RECEIVING STATION FOR THE TRANSIT PROGRAM, PHASE I

Abstract

The receiving station allows a simulaneos reception of 2 frequencies of a satellite providing useful tracking data or useful ionospheric refraction ata. The 2 receivers cover the range between 53 and 262 mc that includes satelite frequencies of 54, 108, 162 and 216 mc, except 324 mc. It wil be possible to extend this frequency range up to 475 mc after purchasing converters and low noise preamplifiers. by means of the fixed frequency receiver E 390 envisaged for the reception of standard frequencies and time signals, satelites can be observed at a frequency of 20 mc (using a sepaate local oscillator). The establishment of the Transit Station is perfomed mainly according to Weiffenbach (Measurement of the Doppler hift of Radio Tranmissions from Satellites, Proc. IRE 48 (!(>)), p. 750). (Athor)
