BUCKLING OF ORTHOTROPIC CONICAL SHELLS UNDER EXTERNAL PRESSURE

Abstract

Donnell stablity equtions for thin, cilar, orthotropic conical shells are presented and solved for external presre loading. the solution is likewise appied o stiffened conical shells by consideration of equivalent othotropic shells. Typical cses are computed and compared wth corresponding isotropic shells. Correlation with equivalent cylindrical shells then yields a simple approximate stability analysis for orthotropic or ring-stiffened conical shells under hydrostatic pressure. (Author)
