EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION OF THE FLOW OF A VAPORIZED LIQUID FILM ALONG THE SURFACE OF A CONE BLOWN BY GAS

Abstract

A method for protecting a hot wall by creating a liquid film on its surface is described and resuls are cited of an experiment concerning the flow of a liquid film along a smooth surface of a cone, pst which flows a high temperature gas. Recommendations will be given for an undetached flow of a liquid (water) long the cone srface. A formula is obtained for determining the initial flow velocity of a liquid film (water) realtive to the veloity of the freestream flow. (Author)
