NIOBIUM AND ITS ALLOYS

Abstract

Data were obtined during testing in vacuum carried out on rod shaped materials subjected to cold or hot deformation with subsequent annealing to remove internal stresses. Of interest are the data on comparing the strength characteristics of rod shaped and sheet material ade of Nb alloy. Invetigations carried out on the F-48 alloy etablished that, by ultimate strength and lasting strength at temperatures of 11001200 F, the sheet is only by 5-10% poorer than the rods made of the same alloy. The most heat restant Nb base alloys re F-48 and F-50 alloys. Alloying with W shows a favorable effect on the improvement of heat resistance. It simultaneously sharply increases the specific weight and reduces the technological factor of the alloys because of the formation of a liquation zone. (Author)
