SCATTERING OF WAVES BY MULTI-COMPONENT TWO-PHASE SYSTEMS

Abstract

The scattering formalism of previous papers is extended to more general distributions. A ''twophase'' system whose population is divided between a ''gas-like phase'' and a ''rysal-like phase'' is conidered, and various sattering functions are analyzed. Generalized results concerning coherent and incoherent scattering are presented. Also considered are corresponding ''asymmetry functions'' which relate ''scattering statistics'' with ''signal statistics''. The asymmetry function plus the incoherent intensity provides the standard deviations and the correlation coefficient for representing the phase quadature components of the intantaneous field by a bivariate normal distribution.
