CATALYTIC SURFACE RECOMBINATION IN BOUNDARYLAYER PROFILES OF THE FALKNER-SKAN TYPE

Abstract

Reactant concentrations in the diffusion-controlled flow over a surface of constant catalycity are calculated for the Falkner-Skan family of profiles. The heat release due to surface recombination is found to be insensitive to the pressure gradient when the wall is relatively noncatalytic; for catalytic walls a decreasing pressure gradient (i.e., more strongly accelerated flow) tends to increase the heat transfer.
