ABSORPTION AND TRANSMISSION OF ELECTROMAGNETIC WAVES. PHASE M, PART B:COMBINATION OF MAGNETIC LAYER- AND GRAPHITE FOIL ABSORBERS

Abstract

The electromagnetic properties of a ferrite layer placed in front of a metal plate are investigated. For this purpose the reflection coefficient is measured as a function of the frequency with the thickness of the sample as parameter. The measurements are carrie out in a coaxial line with Ferramic E 1960 as test substance. In order to increase the bandwidth at larger t ickness of layer the ferrite is electrically shunted with a resistivity foil and the reflection coefficient of this combination is again measured as a function of the frequency. Parameters are the thickness of the ferrite layer and the surface resistivity of the foil. With this combination the operating frequency range is extended towards lower frequencies. Without resistivity foil the reflection coefficient remains about 10% in the entire range. (Author)
