CURVE-FITTING GUIDE

Abstract

Various mathematical expressions that may be used to represent experimental data are presented. Specific methods of linear transformation and the general least-squares procedure for functions having nonlinear parameters are described in detail. In addition, brief discussions are given for the following classes of functions: linear combination of exponentials, asymptotic regression, frequency functions, and polynomials. References are provided that describe the methodology in greater detail.
