FEASIBILITY INVESTIGATION OF CHEMICALLY SPRAYED THIN FILM PHOTOVOLTAIC CONVERTERS

Abstract

Studies included: possible variations in the physical structure (crystallinity and crystallite orientation) of the semiconducting layer (CdS and CdSe) due to changes in the deposition parameters; the effect on different orientations due to heat treatment; changes in resistivity due to heat treat and doping; improvement of the deposition of the barrier layer; investigation of a barrier layer using copper selenide; search for a flexible (metal foil) substrate compatible with the film deposition conditions; investigation of the possible correlation between crystallite orientation and crystallinity to photovoltaic response; and the spectral characteristics of the CdSe, CdS, and CdSe-CdS photovoltaic cells.
