INFORMATION TRANSFER IN DISPLAY-CONTROL SYSTEMS. V. EXPANSION AND ELABORATION OF THE DEI TECHNIQUE

Abstract

Str ngthening and elaboration of the display evaluative technique, a method for assessing the ability of the displays in a display operator decision control action loop to transfer information and for the operator to act on this information, are described. Additional concepts now included in the DEI are information precursor, information load, transfer criticality, and utilization efficiency. Application of the expanded technique to eight Signal Corps' systems suggests that the technique possesses sensitivity for achieving its purpose. (Author)
