A SATELLITE LOOK ANGLE CALCULATOR

Abstract

The satellite look angle calculator is designed to be an aid to satellite tracking and a tool for engineers working with satellite configurations. To use the calculator, the position of a satellite must be known for some particular time, and from this information the following can be obtained: (1) look angles for the satellite (azimuth and elevation) from a particular tracking station; (2) the satellite position above the earth for any time; (3) satellite period and velocity; (4) orbit traces from one revolution to the next; (5) doppler shift information; and (6) slant range from tracking station to satellite.
