TUNGSTEN AND ROCKET MOTORS

Abstract

This report concerns the use of W in solid propellant rocket motors and involves two main areas of interest. The first area, W erosion, is being studied under simulated exhaust conditions by means of a specially constructed plasma arc erosion apparatus. The second area deals with the effects of thermal shock on W and includes an experimental and theoretical analysis of the problem. (Author)
