GUN TUBE ON A FLEXIBLE CRADLE

Abstract

An analysis is presented of the motion of a flexible cradle on which the recoiling parts move supported by flexible clips attached to the cradle. The motion of the gun tube is assumed to be prescribed. The cradle is represented by a uniform beam which is supported by a pin support and a rotational spring at one end and a linear spring at an interior point. The recoiling parts, assumed to be rigid mass, are supported on two linear springs which are fixed to the cradle. A pair of coupled integral equations are obtained which define the motion of the recoiling parts and a numerical technique is developed for their solution. (Author)
