FORECASTING WINTER TEMPERATURE IN SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND

Abstract

November mean pressure maps for the northern hemisphere are used to predict winter temperatures in Southern New England. It appears that the pressure patterns of winter correlate well with those of November when allowance is made for the normal November to winter pressure change. The system is dependent upon gauging the advection of cold air into New England during the winter. (Author)
