A TELEMETRY IMPROVEMENT STUDY

Abstract

An abbreviated derivation is given for a tapped delay-line Wiener filter. An attempt is made to apply filtering of this type to a PCM-PM-PM telemetry signal. Both i-f filtering and postdetection filtering are considered. It is proposed that measurements be made of received signal and noise, and from these a determination be made of optimum filter coefficients. Results show that such filtering is of marginal value for the particular telemetry signal investigated. (Author)
