SUPERPOWER MILLIMETER WAVE TUBE

Abstract

Presented is the design of the X-band OrthotronAND THE CONSTRUCTION AND COLD-TESTING OF COMPONENT PARTS. It is shown that careful attention to output coupling and unwanted mode loading is absolutely necessary to control and stabilize the device so that the desired Orthotron amplification process can take place. The unwanted modes are identified and steps to eliminate oscillation in these modes are presented and discussed. Drawings of the input coupler, output coupler and mode loading circuits are presented and discussed. Results of anode cold tests and input coupler cold tests are presented and discussed. (Author)
