INVESTIGATION OF VARIOUS ACTIVATOR-REFRACTORY SUBSTRATE COMBINATIONS

Abstract

The effective work function of a dispenser cathode was measured at an operating temperature using a close-spaced diode. Life tests, instantaneous evaporation rates and pulsed emission measurements were made on a tungsten-barium orthosilicate dispenser cathode. A summary of the pertinent results of this investigation is given along with speculations on the emission mechanism. (Author)
