LONG LIFE K-BAND MAGNETRON

Abstract

The first operational isolated anode magnetron with a conventional electron source was successfully completed; it operated normally and arcfree at the required asde pulse conditions, and at the same anode voltage, current power output and efficiency level as an acceptable magnetron. Electron gun revisions incorporated a new pole laminate method to give a tapered magnetic leak-AGE FLUX PROFILE WITHIN THE POLE PIECE CAVITY; THESE RESULTED IN A MAGNET SIZE INCREASE. Modulator revisions were completed causing it to be compatible with the proposed magnetron. (Author)
