INTERPLANETARY GAS. VII. A SIMI-EMPIRICAL MODEL

Abstract

A theoretical expression is obtained connecting parameters in the solar wind near the orbit of earth with parameters in the inner corona. A model similar to the empirical model presented recently (Brandt 1962) is found to be reasonably consistent with the theoretical expression. Near the orbit of earth, an expansion velocity of 200400 km/sec and a mean electron density of 1-5/cc are thought to be probable. (Author)
