SCREENING VIEWER

Abstract

This final technical report on the screening viewer covers three phases: electrical controls, Mylar belt studies, and optical system. The report on the Electrical Controls describes the power input, magnification control system, the film transport circuitry, lamp control, and design improvements incorporated during assembly. The studies on the Mylar belt describe the film flattening technique used in the viewer, belt tracking, adverse effects of flexible roller mountings, test results on the Mylar belt drive and on Mylar belt life. The optical system report describes the type of system used and an evaluation of the merits as well as shortcomings inherent in such a system. (Author)
