RATE AND MECHANISM OF PYROLYSIS OF POLYBENZYL

Abstract

The thermal decomposition of polybenzyl was investigated. Polybenzyl was found to decompose wth an activation energy of 45.4 Kcal/mole. Its products of decomposition comprised about 96% of substances involatile in vacuo at 25 C and 4% of a mixture of benzene, toluene and xylene. That the amount of toluene prodl pyrolysis investigated by gas chromatography and infrared spectrometry.
