SOLID STATE ANALOG-TO-DIGITAL CONVERTER

Abstract

Problems related to device design were investigated, especially those of distortion and injection. A qualitative description of field, injected carrier, and contact distortion is presented. Experimental results show that electron injection causes the major distortion to the potential of the depletion region on the surface of the bevel. The injection of electrons and holes from a metal-depletion layer contact is presented, and is shown not to have the characteristics of space-charge limited current. A circuit diagram and characteristics of the device in its first stage are presented. (Author)
