A 7090 CODE FOR THE CALCULATION OF ELECTROMAGNETIC BLACKOUT FOLLOWING A HIGH ALTITUDE NUCLEAR DETONATION

Abstract

This program computes the electron conc ntration and resulting electromagnetic absorption, as functions of time, altitude, a d range, for specified detonation and debris histories. The computation includes initial ionization due to x-rays, gamma rays, neutrons and debris, as wellAS DELAY D IONI ATION DUE TO THE CONTINUING BETA AND GAMMA RADIATION FROM THE DEBRIS. It compu e the transient recombination and quasiequilibrium solutions for el ctron concentra io and he incremental E. M. wave absorption (decibels/kilometer) a the required altitudes for up to three specified . wave frequenci s From thes , th altitudes of sp cific electron concentration contours are interpolated and th one-way vertical absorp ion is obtained by trapezoidal integration.
