Abstract
Research activity is reported to extend the useful frequency spectrum into the range from microwave frequencies to optical frequencies, and to improve existing devices and frequencies in the microwave spectrum. At present this objective is being pursued by studies of electron beam devices, solid state devices, and plasmas. Two experimental projects on millimeter-wave devices and a theoretical study of multiple beam interaction are being pursued. (Author)
