REVERSIBLE OXYGEN ELECTRODES

Abstract

Adsorption of oxygen on oxide free Pt surfaces was studied in 1N H2SO4. Galvanostatic transient technique was employe to determine O coverage. The rest potential of the electrode was found to depend on O coverage, the latter in turn was determined equilibrium partial pressure of the gas in solution. The behavior of O at the Pt electrode was found to follow a Langmuir type isotherm for dissociated adsorption. (Author)
