DESCRIPTORS: *Graphite, *High temperature research, *R EFRACTORY MATERIALS, xidation, Materials, Energy, Data, Temperature, Carbon, Chemical properties, Guided missiles, Re action kinetics. The oxidation characteristics of the commercially available graphites, Speer Carbon Company Grades 580 and 7100 and Great Lakes Carbon Corporation H3LM and H1LM, were investigated for a series of temperatures between 1000 F and 155 F. The technique used permitted the continuous and automatic rec rding of oxidation rate. Oxidation-rate constants were calculated for each material at 1000 F, 1250 F, 1350 F, 1450 F, and 1550 . Activation energies r each material were also calculated. The data were consistent with other reported data for commercial, natural, and p re artificial graphite . (Author)
