AUTOMATIC DATA HEADER PROGRAMMER

Abstract

Doppler tracking stations with punched paper tape output require data tape identification. This is done with a data header using a fixed format with variable entries. This report describes a unit devised to automatically progam a paper tape punch used to punch the data header preceding the data reduction. The automatic data header programmer is designed to work with a modified Dymec DY-5304 time interval recording system. The programmer is described in detail, and drawings are provided. Modifications necessary to the Dymec DY-5304 system are also described. While designed to operate with other equipment, the design could be adapted to operate with a paper tape punch alone. (Author)
