INTERFERENCE BLANKER GROUP AN/GPX-27 ( )

Abstract

The development is described of the AN/GPX-27 interference blanker or defruiting equipment that uses storage tubes to eliminate unwanted nonsynchronous signals from radar beacon video replies. The interference blanker group functions as follows. The incoming video from the beacon receiver is threshold clipped to reduce noise, limited, and applied to the coincidence detector. The thresholded video is applied to the storage tubes where the video is held until the next range timing period. The readout video from the storage tubes is amplified and applied to the second grid of the coincidence detector. The synchronous video output from the coincidence detector is amplified and fed, through a cathode follower, to the sytem video output jack. (Author)
