PHASE COMPOSITION OF OXIDES OF NIOBIUM BASE ALLOYS

Abstract

The phase composition of oxides of pure Nb and Nb-Ti, V, Cr, Mo, W, and Zr alloys has been investigated. A study of the structure and composition of oxide phases, forming during high temperature oxidation of Nb alloys, offers the possibility not only to explain the mechanism of the effect of alloying admixtures on the oxidizability of Nb, but also to notice more effective ways of increasing the scaling resistance of Nb alloys.
