TOTAL REFLECTIVITY OF WEATHERED F-106 PAINT FROM 0.225 MICRONS TO 2.5 MICRONS

Abstract

A 2 in.x2 in., clad 2024-T3 aluminum alloy sample was painted with one coat of wash primer (Mil-C-8154), two coats of zinc chromate primer (Mil-P-8585) and two coats of grey alkyd enamel (Mil-E-7729). After painting and curing indoors for one week, the panel was exposed to the south at an angle of 45 degrees to the horizontal on a roof top at indberg Field, San Diego, California, for seven months. After weathering, the total reflectance of the finish was measured with a Beckman Model DK-2 spectroreflectometer. The reflectivity of the material is presented in chart form. (Author)
