METHOD OF OBTAINING METALLIC TITANIUM

Abstract

A method of obtaining metallic Ti from its oxides or chlorides is distinguished by the fact that, for the purpose of accomplishing a continuous process, simplifying technology and decreasing power expenses, the decomposition of Ti compounds is accomplished by the reaction of an electrode-less, high-frequency, electrical discharge at normal pressure, in an atmosphere of reactive gaseous matter, the supply and removal of which is accomplished continuously.
