BIOCHEMICAL FUEL CELL

Abstract

A survey was made of the microorganisms capable of evolving hydrogen, nd information on the proper substrates was collected. Certain promising bacteria were tested, and preliminary data on the rates of gas evolution and the composition of the gas was collected. Equipment for the quantitative measurement of hydrogen evolution was designed and built. The analytical procedure, based on gas chromatography, was developed. A refined apparatus was designed.
