SYMBOLIC ADDRESS CODING BASED ON ALGOL

Abstract

A sys em of symbolic address coding is described which is based on ALGOL 60 (BOA). In using this system the programmer first writes a complete description of the computational proce s in the standar ALGOL 60 reference language and then translates this ALGOL program into a symbolic address code suitable for assembly by the FAP assembler. The system consists of a set of rules for tra slating to make the ymbolic coding correspond closely to the original ALGOL test, and a set of subroutin s to simplify the use of subscripted variables, switches, and recursive procedures. Subroutines for input and output and valuation of certain standard functions are also included. (Author)
