EFFECT OF EXPOSURE TO COLD ON SOME ASPECTS OF HEPATIC ACETATE UTILIZATION

Abstract

Liver slices were prepared from control rats kept at 25 C. and cold rats exposed to 0-2 C. for 1, 2, 5, and 10 days. The slices were incubated for 3 hours in bicarbonate buffer solution containing 10 mg. % sodium acetate-C14 at 37.5 C. The ability of these slices to convert the C14-acetate to C14-fatty acids, C14O2, and C14-cholesterol was determined. (Author)
