LAUNCHING SET, BALLOON AN/TMQ-12(XD-2)

Abstract

The Launching Set, Balloon AN/TMQ-12, was develope to provide both a mobile H2 generating capabilit for inflating rawinsonde balloons and a balloon launching capability. T HE LA NCHING MECHANISM PROVIDES HOUSING FOR THE BALLOON DURING THE INFLATION PROCESS. On ball n release, it pr vides a free escape path, minimizing the possibilit of balloon abrasion and da age. The equipment provides improved balloon handling techniques under high wind conditions at mobile rawinsonde sites. (Author)
