EVALUATION OF MULTIPURPOSE FABRIC NET

Abstract

The multipurpose fabric net, is a lightweight, olive green, nylon net. It weighs one pound and is approximately six feet wide and eight feet long with a 9/16 inch mesh. It has selvage along the long side with the nylon ends melted together on the short side. The test item in a hammock configuration is strong enough to support a 200pound man. It can be wadded and placed into a fatigue trouser pocket. The test item is designed to provide a suitable net of minimum size and weight. The net is satisfactory with respect to: Size and weight, and its use as an improvised hammock, an improvised litter, for caching supplies, as a sniper's roost, a camouflage net, for catching fish and trapping small animals, air delivery and air transport operations.
