THE EFFECT OF PRESSOR AND DEPRESSOR SUBSTANCES ON SYSTEMIC AND PULMONARY CIRCULATION IN HYPO-XEMIC HYPOXIA

Abstract

The reactivity of the vegetative neural system in conditions of oxygen starvation arouses great interest. A number of researchers have explained that in hypoxemic hypoxia the body's sensitivity to adrenaline is substantially lowered. The weakening of the sympathetic nerves in conditions of hypoxia explains this. In experiments onANIMALS AND IN OBSERVATIONS OF PEOPLE IT HAS BEEN SHOWN THAT HYPOXIA LEADS TO A PROGRESSIVE INCREASE IN THE BODY'S SENSITIVITY TO ACETYLCHOLINE, THIS INCREASE BEING NOTICEABLE IN BOTH THE INTACT VAGUS NERVES AND IN THEIR CROSSSECTION. The aim of this work was the study of the effect of pressor and depressor substances on systemic and pulmonary circulation in hypoxia in conditions of hypocapnia and of liquidation thereof. (Author)
