A METHOD FOR REPRESENTING CODE VALUES OF OPTIMAL NONUNIFORM CODES ON THE MASKS OF CATHODE-RAY DECODING TUBES

Abstract

A method is shown for representing code values of optimal nonuniform codes on the masks of cathode-ray decoding tubes, where the duration of the code co bination is recorded horizontally,AND THE ORDER NUMBER OF THE CODE COMBINATION TO BE RECEIVED IS RECORDED VERTICALLY. Since the order number B(p(i) ), by definition, B(p(i))= Summation of s(N)a to the (N-1) over the interval from N=1 to N=A(p(i)) where A(p(i)) is the duration of a code combination 1 of the symbol, and s (N) is the significance of a code digit (from the radix of the code a), the number of which is N, then the required resolution of the tubes increases rather rapidly with an increase in the maximum (in duration) code combination of an optimal nonuniform code A(p(m)). The propos d method allows the resolution of cathode-ray decoding tubes to be used ore fully, since the mask obtained as a result of using the proposed method has a square shape. The essence of the method is the combini g of numbers corresponding to the dura ion of a code combination and to its order number, and divi ion of the nu b r obtained into approximately equal parts, which form the horizontal and vertical coordinates of the code value for recording on the mask of the tube.
