Polymerization of Allyl Monomers by Means of Gamma Radiation

Abstract

Poly (allyl alcohol), poly (allyl acetate), poly (allyl phenyl ether) , and poly (allyl isothiocyanate) were produced from their monomers by the action of gamma radiation from Cobalt-60. Polymerization rates and solubilities of the polymers are given. Molecular weights were determined for poly (ally acetate) and poly (allyl phenyl ether). Infrared spectra for poly (allyl alcohol) and poly (allyl phenyl ether) are presented.
