Soviet Nuclear Research Reactors Vvr-S (Moscow) and Vvr-S (Tashkent): Review of Soviet Literature

Abstract

A description is given of the two Soviet water-moderated water-cooled reactors (VVR-S), one of which is located in Moscow and the other in Tashkent, Uzbekskaya SSR. The VVR-S reactors, intended for experimental and research purposes, were developed from the experimental enriched-uranium VVR reactor. Background information, general construction details, features of the control and safety systems, and information on the experimental facilities afforded by the reactor are presented.
