A STUDY OF ONE AND TWO ELECTRON CENTRAL FORCE PROBLEMS USING THE HYPERVIRIAL THEOREM

Abstract

The hypervirial theorem is used to develop expectation value relationships for one and two electron central force problems. Ground state helium trial functions are scaled to identically satisfy a particular family of these relationships. It is show that this procedure results in improved expectation values for positive powers of the radial coordinate.
